My First Day In Lockdown

My First Day in Lockdown

In the morning we had to wake up really early so that we could get into town. We had to drive all the way to
grey mouth swap cars and drive all the way back. Boring if you ask me. When we got back I had breakfast, did
all the usual morning stuff and then opened my chrome book and transferred into the world of school.

I opened my chrome book and went straight to maths buddy. I did it for at least 1 hr. Now I know why long
division is called long division… It takes for eeeeeeevvvveeeeeeerrrrrrrrr. Really annoying. Anyway I did
some more maths after that and I also completed our E quiz thingy me bob. After that I made a map of the house.
It took a while, Obviously. I took some pictures here.
After school we performed a play to help Zak ( My brother ) this his religious education. It was a really long play and it took forever to perform. I kind of wish Zak could do it himself! But it wasn’t that bad though and it was kind of fun but I didn’t really understand it. Here are some pictures. That is the end, I hope you enjoyed it.

School Gala

On Friday our school had a Gala from 5pm to 8pm. It was lots of fun we had games and face painting and people were running there own stalls so we had lots of things to do. All of the games were 50c so we didn't need much money to do anything. We had lots of company's donating to us so we could to lots of things. It was an exiting day and everyone had lots of fun. We were fundraising money for an outside play area strip thing and also o we can play outside in the rain. Overall we raise around 5,000 dollars so we will probably have enough to get it.

School Sailing

School sailing

On the 11th of November Our class went sailing. We went sailing in optimists. Since I had done a lot of sailing before I got to go by myself. Simon was teaching everyone how to sail. I have already done the cause before so I what was going to happen. It was exiting because there was lots of wind. First he told us how to set up the boats and then he told everyone how to sail the boats. We put on jackets and life jackets on and then headed out we had lots of fun sailing. We played a game were we were in teams and there was this ball we had to toss to all three of the other boats on our team and then into Simon's boat. But if the other team touched it then everyone had to touch it again. Halfway through the game I capsized and when I got back up I was taken out of my boat so the people who went in had to bail it! Over all it was a fun day and I would like to do it again.

Camp Reflection

In our class we went on camp in week 5 this is my reflection of it.

On the first day of camp we went to Authors Pass Outdoor Education Centre. When we got there we found our bunks and but our stuff on them. After that we had some morning tea. We played outside and did some team games for the rest of the day. After dinner we had a pillow fight and then we had some pudding. We then mucked around and went to bed. On the second day we woke up to a heard of elephants coming the hallway then we had breakfast and got told that we couldn't go to Mt Cheeseman until later because the road was closed. so we played inside for the rest of the day. Finally we departed and headed of for Mt Cheeseman. We were heading up the road and at the chain fitting area the road was closed so we played around in the snow until it opened. When it did we headed up the mountain. When we got to the top it was windy and snowy but we still played outside anyway. we made igloos and went town the beginners skiing slope on toboggans.
But all fun things come to an end. eventually we had to come inside because it was to windy so we mucked around had fun ate dinner and went to bed. The next day we got up early had breakfast and packed ready to go skiing. Then we got our skiing gear and went for it out on the ski flied. We had lots of fun but then we had to go.

The science of a pendulum

In our class we have been doing experiments with pendulums there is two of them. here is mine.
How mass affects the swing of a pendulum
Question:
How long does it take to stop swinging depending on its mass.
Aim/Hypothesis:
We think that objects with more mass will go for longer
Results
This is how long it took for each of the objects to stop singing.
Bottle 2 mins 59 secs . 63
Microphone   2 mins 48 secs . 98
 Blue pen 2 mins 7 secs.40
Highlighter 2 mins 41 secs.19
Conclusion: It is true objects with more mass do swing for longer.

Here is my second one when we did painting with pendulums.

Aim/Hypothesis:
Our hypothesis was that it was going to be easy to make a pendulum
painting device. Our aim was to make one.
Results:
First we tried using paint but it didn’t work because it was too watery.
So we tried again but the hole was too small. So the paint was to thick
to fit threw the hole or we are just unlucky. We tried to make a bigger hole
and the paint was still to thick. So we tried flour and it didn't go through the
funnel so we gave up.
Conclusion:
In the end our hypothesis was wrong and we didn’t achieve our aim nothing
worked. Maybe next time we could plan more and come up with a better mix.

Miranda Jane Art

In our class we have been making art that is inspired by Miranda Jane. Here is mine and one of hers.

The things that are the same are; there are lots of different sections, the outlines are black and they are both landscapes.

Book review on refugee

Book review on Refugee

Title: Refugee                                         Author: Alan Gratz

The book was about three children called Josef who is 13 and lives in Germany tries to escape to Cuba, Isabel who is 11 and lives in Cuba tries to escape to America and Mahmoud who is 12 lives in Syria tries to escape to Germany. They are all refugees that are trying to escape their country!

I think the three way story line was cool because they overlapped like Mahmoud ends up living with Ruthie ( Josef’s sister ) for a bit. Also the fact that Lito ( Isabel's grandfather ) turned the boat away that Josef was in ( the St Louis ). All the story lines also had similarities like Mahmoud is trying to escape to Josef’s home country who is trying to escape to Isabel’s home country. It was also interesting how the story lines were set in different times.

The low part was there were a lot of cliffhangers at the end if the novel like the mystery of Hana, what happened to Josef’s father and what happened after Mahmouds family finishes living with Ruthie. I really want there to be a Refugee 2 so that the mysteries are solved. The author also left us hanging after nearly every chapter like when “the rubber dingy popped and Mahmoud fell into the sea”.

I think that the best part of the story was when in Mahmoud's chapter it explained what happened in Josef’s chapter because were it ended didn’t sound like it should have.

I recommend this story for people who are 10-20. Also for people who like action packed stories
